A MOVEMENT BORN FROM AMBITION

A modern-day take on ‘Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover,’ “YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME” unites brave and powerful voices to inspire deep and meaningful conversations with AMBITION’s trademark Power-Not-Pity approach.

Established in 2017, “YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME” is an innovative leadership program that fosters the critical skills of confidence, vulnerability and solution-driven thinking. Developed as an ancillary program of AMBITION, a nonprofit entrepreneurial program for disadvantaged youth, the “YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME” movement has spread to communities across the country, empowering students of any race, class or background to come together and develop leadership skills.

A reminder that what you see is NOT necessarily what you get, “YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME” is an uncensored call-to-action that uses a Power-Not-Pity, unapologetic, solution-driven approach when giving voice to our challenges, secrets and successes. With a strong voice and focused trajectory for tackling our problems, they are no longer burdens borne with pity, but tools we can use to empower all facets of our lives.

The “YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME” curriculum includes team building activities, self-reflection exercises and public speaking coaching, all rooted in the Power-Not-Pity approach. Instead of wallowing in a “woe is me” mindset, students embrace solution-driven thinking. This empowered delivery and resolution methodology changes our experiences in a profound and critical way, provoking an affirmation of power that inspires leadership instead of victimhood.

Each participant crafts a 60-90 second story. Using Power-Not-Pity, they state their greatest challenge, describe how they overcame or are overcoming it and end on a humble flex, proving that their circumstances do not define them. The process of sharing their solutions elevates students into leaders.

“YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME, BUT… I lack self-confidence, so I found mentors who encourage me to believe in myself and remind me that I can do anything I put my mind to. I’ve learned the importance of surrounding myself with people who bring out my best. And something else YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME is that I’m currently working on my second album, and it is coming soon.”

It takes courage to stand up and declare our challenges with Power-Not-Pity.

And when we share our solutions, we position ourselves to inspire others.
